Sensitive skin is more emotional than it looks. Here are 5 things that might be making it worse.
1. Ignoring ingredients
Sure, you love the way that cleanser smells or how that foundation makes your face look. But did you actually read the ingredient list? Common chemical allergens are lurking in a lot of products. Stay away from things like formaldehyde and petroleum derivatives.
2. Showering in boiling water
Babes seem to be able to withstand temperatures likened to the inside of a volcano when it comes to showering. A simple tip: turn the temperature down and you'll see a reduction in redness and inflammation. Tepid is your friend.
3. Over-exfoliating
Yes, babe. I said it. There is such a thing as too much scrubbing. If you have sensitive skin, scrub your face only 1 to 2 times per week and go easy on the pressure. Let the exfoliant do the work, not your elbow grease.
4. Blasting breakouts
This week your challenge is to quit using harsh ingredients on your zits. Try dabbing a spot of primrose oil directly on that spot for gentle targeted treatment. Follow with a hydrating moisturiser that contains shea butter, known for its anti-inflammatory properties. My Caffeinated Face Moisturiser has both, just by the way.
5. Wearing makeup on the couch
If you're home, take your makeup off. The characters in that series you're binge-watching can't see you.
