Decoding your exfoliants can be rough. Between physical and chemical, it can get more confusing than decoding that situationship text. So let me do the honours, babe.
Exfoliation works to remove dead skin cells squatting on your skin. There are two ways to do it: physical exfoliation or chemical exfoliation. Let's talk about both.
What is physical exfoliation?
If you're a busy babe (and #letsbefrank, you are) dirt and dead skin cells can build up on your skin, leading to clogged pores and breakouts. This is where physical exfoliation comes in. It's surface-level stuff, in the best possible way.
For your face, my Original Face Scrub contains a blend of coffee, bamboo, and walnut to clean out pores and buff away dry, dead skin cells. For your body, my Glycolic Body Scrub is your head-to-toe glow-getter. Sugar and glycolic acid working together for smooth, even skin all over.
What is chemical exfoliation?
Think of it like good chemistry: gentle and seamless, but when it works its magic, you'll know about it. Chemical exfoliation uses acids and enzymes to break down the bonds that hold dead skin cells together, dissolving them away rather than buffing them off.
For your face, my Glow Mask uses papaya and pineapple extract alongside glycolic acid to gently dissolve dead skin cells and reveal soft, smooth texture. My Resurfacing AHA Toner goes a step further, using glycolic and lactic acids plus niacinamide for long-term results with regular use.
For your body, my Triple Acid Body Wash combines glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acid to clear skin and tackle body breakouts, KP, and uneven texture in the shower.
Which should you use?
For sensitive babes, chemical exfoliation is often the gentler starting point. Physical exfoliation is great for babes who want more immediate, visible results. And for babes who can't decide? Mix and match between the two.
The truth is, babe: it's up to you. It's your skin, your choice. Use both and let your skin lead the way.
