Full of glycolic acid, a facial exfoliating toner is a powerful tool for the appearance of pimple scars and hormonal breakouts. Read on to find out if you should be using one.
What do face toners do?
Liquid-essence consistency and packed with powerful ingredients, a face toner follows your cleanse to wipe away any remaining makeup, dirt, oil, and grime. It's also a gentle way to exfoliate the skin without physical exfoliants that could irritate sensitive skin, using AHAs like glycolic acid.
To balance the exfoliation, my Resurfacing AHA Toner includes niacinamide and liquorice root to give hydration and barrier-boosting TLC to the skin.
By gently exfoliating, dead skin cells are cleared away. These are the culprits behind clogged pores and uneven skin tone. The acid and niacinamide also promote cell turnover to help reduce the appearance of pimple scars and marks for a brighter, more even complexion.
How do I use an exfoliating face toner?
Timing is everything.
After cleansing, saturate a cotton pad and swipe me over the face, neck, and décolletage, avoiding the eyes and delicate areas.
Follow with a hydrating serum like my Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Serum, then seal the deal with a nourishing moisturiser like my Super Ceramide Night Cream. If you're stepping out into daylight, apply SPF last.
Always do a patch test first.
