Say hello to a new side to skincare; it’s a bright one. My Brightening Vitamin C Mask uses active ingredients such as Salicylic Acid, Kakadu Plum, AHAs and Glycolic Acid to target specific skin concerns. Acne, signs of ageing, and overall dullness? I’ve got you, babe. Or more accurately, my new active mask has you.
Ingredients to BRIGHTEN skin:
Kakadu Plum
A superfruit for super babes. Native to my home down under, Kakadu Plum is the world’s richest source of Vitamin C, which is good for more than just the common cold. It helps slow down signs of ageing, brighten your skin, and improve clarity. This multitasker is also an acne fighter. It can reduce puffiness, redness, and helps clear acne.
Desert Lime
Another Australian local, Desert Lime also has a high concentration of Vitamin C. But don’t confuse this with your tequila chaser. It’s a powerful antioxidant that helps fight signs of fine lines and wrinkles while rejuvenating and rebalancing the skin. Some say it helps with suppleness. But I’ll let you be the judge.
Ingredients to CLEAR skin:
Salicylic Acid
Salicylic Acid (C7H6O3) is another type of gentle acid, known as a BHA: beta hydroxy acid. This type of acid is oil-soluble, which is a fancy way of saying that it cuts through oil and can get deeper into your pores. The key benefit of Salicylic Acid is its full-time job is getting rid of acne and blemishes by clearing the congestion that causes them, deep in your pores. I get my Salicylic Acid naturally, from the bark of the willow tree. It’s gentle, while still being effective. Who said you could only have one or the other?
Ingredients to SOFTEN skin:
Lactic Acid
Another member of the AHA club, Lactic Acid, firms and plumps skin. This means it also helps soften the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, and hyperpigmentation. At the same time, it also improves your overall skin tone & texture: glowy, dewy, bright. What a show off, #letsbefrank. It’s a super hydrator for the skin, don’t let it’s name fool you.
Aloe Vera
There’s a reason babes use this when they’ve spent too much time in the sun. Highly moisturising, it deeply penetrates to nourish and soothe skin that’s inflamed or stressed. Like acne-prone babes or anyone who’s experiencing irritation or dryness.
Ingredients to SMOOTH skin:
Papaya Enzyme
Juicy fruit for juicy skin. Papaya contains an enzyme called papain. It dissolves oils, clearing them from pores and softening the top layer of skin. It’s one of the most popular ingredients for skin clearing & resurfacing. And it’s in my Brightening Vitamin C Mask. Lucky me.
Pineapple Extract
Known as the fruit that eats you back. Ever felt mouth tingles after munching on pineapple? That’s the enzymes present in this fruit doing their job. When on your face, Pineapple Extract removes dead skin cells, improves skin elasticity, while it increases hydration. Not your average smoothie, but helloooo smooth skin.
Ingredients to EXFOLIATE skin:
AHAs
Also known as alpha-hydroxy acids: they’re chemical exfoliators that give you an alternative to physical scrubbing. Mine are naturally-derived from native Australian ingredients like Desert Lime. They work by dissolving the glue that keeps dead skin cells stuck together. One dissolved, you can wash dead skin away, revealing brighter, clearer, softer skin. It’s magic. Or more accurately, science.
Glycolic Acid
A superacid. Not that kind of acid, babe. This one is a natural fruit acid, known as an AHA: an alpha hydroxy acid. It’s a type of natural exfoliant that encourages your old, damaged, surface level-skin cells to shed. Once these old cells are gone, other ingredients can go deep to unclog pores, brighten your complexion, reduce breakouts and improve your skin tone.
Green Coffee Seed
It wouldn’t be complete without a shot of coffee. Green Coffee Beans are rich in antioxidants, which help protect your precious body from free radicals. Free radicals are tiny molecules that exist in our environment, like in pollution, that cause things like premature ageing and skin dullness. Green Coffee Seed also nourishes and moisturises skin for that “I got my 8 hours of sleep” radiance.
