Adulting has its perks — like having the freedom to eat ice cream for dinner whenever you want. But there are two things no one prepared us for. Taxes. And post-teenage acne.
In a spotty situation? I can help, babe. Stick to a consistent skincare routine, and things will clear up in no time.
Step 1: Need a remedy for adult acne.
Check! That was easy. Look at you crossing off that to-do list.
Step 2: Double cleanse.
We’re all guilty of falling asleep with our winged eyeliner still on. But if there’s ever a moment to not be lazy, this is it. At night, make an effort to not only cleanse, but double cleanse.
Get started with my Anti-Makeup Cleansing Oil. Vitamin E and natural oils gently melt away the makeup, SPF, dirt, and impurities that are clogging your pores. Follow it up with my Extra Clean Face Wash, made with the breakout-busting ingredient salicylic acid.
Opt for my Charcoal Face Cleanser in the morning (double cleansing isn’t necessary, unless you’re in the mood to).
Step 3: Scrub or mask.
A few times a week, spend some time sloughing away dead skin with one of my best-selling exfoliators.
My Original Face Scrub targets pimples while leaving your skin silky smooth. Your pores will be clear of any breakout-causing impurities.
My Brightening Vitamin C Mask is a chemical exfoliant, meaning the active ingredients (vitamin C, lactic acid, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid) do the dirty work — without the physical scrubbing.
Other masks that are gentle on you but tough on your zits? My Anti-Drama Face Mask draws out impurities and detoxes your pores to help banish and prevent breakouts. And if it’s body acne you are suffering from, my Charcoal Body Scrub & Mask will leave your bacne and buttne on read.
Step 5: Moisturise.
Whoever said not to use a moisturiser on oily and acne-prone skin was wrong. Fun fact: when your skin becomes too dry, your body produces more oil. Which leads to more breakouts. Fun fact indeed.
After scrubbing or masking, pat my Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Serum on to damp skin. Follow it up with my lightweight Caffeinated Face Moisturiser to seal the deal (the deal being soft, clear skin — duh).
Extra tips.
Unlike cake for breakfast or ice cream for dinner, more isn’t always more. Go easy on the layering if you’re dealing with a pesky breakout. If your skin is already angry, the last thing you want to do is fuel the fire.
And remember not to over-exfoliate or mask. You want to remove dead skin cells, but not so much that you damage your epidermis layers and strip away your natural oils.
It’s all about balance, babe.
