Half the annoyance of a pimple is the scar it leaves behind.
Skincare isn’t just about preventing pimples, it’s also about helping them heal.
Here are my top 5 tips for improving acne scars on your face (and neck).
Tip 1. Brighten the scar pigment
Brightening ingredients such as vitamin C helps even the scar pigment.
Look out for vitamin C, which can be in its purest form (ascorbic acid) like in my Collagen Boost Serum. Also look for ingredients that are high in vitamin C like Kakadu plum, the world’s richest source of vitamin C.
My favourite C word increases your skin’s collagen production—the stuff that’s responsible for the structure and elasticity of your skin. A dream for improving acne scars.
It also boosts your brightness for an overall more radiant skin tone.
Tip 2. Hydrate your acne scars
Hydrated skin is healthy skin. Keep drinking lots of water and hydrate your skin with hyaluronic acid.
This guy can hold a thousand times his weight in water and will support any routine to improve scarring over time.
Reduce redness and plump your skin while you’re on your healing journey. Slurp it up, babe.
Tip 3. Get rid of dead skin cells
Lactic acid is a gentle chemical exfoliant that works to softly peel away dead skin cells.
What does this mean for your skin? A smoother texture, help with pigmentation, and a speedier skin renewal process.
Find it in my Brightening Vitamin C Mask and use me for 5 minutes to get rid of those dead skin cells.
Tip 4. Don’t pick your pimps
Enough said. Picking your pimples delays the healing process and could make your acne scars more prominent. But you knew this already.
Tip 5. Take special care of your neck
Did you know acne on your neck takes longer to heal? Neck cells take longer to turnover which means scars don’t heal as quickly.
Use your acne scar healing products all the way down to your boobs. Your neck is also more sensitive to barrier impairment, so don’t go too hard on the active ingredients. Gentle is the way to go.Want to talk more about barrier impairment? I promise I’ll make it interesting. Click here to learn.
